What is SMP?
Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-invasive treatment that uses micro needles to deposit pigment into the scalp. This creates the appearance of little tiny hair follicles that appear to thicken and restore the look of fuller hair. Whether you are starting to recede, thin, or bald, for men, SMP can give you the look of a short buzz cut and for women the look of a fuller head of hair

Types of consultations?
The two most common types of consultations are phone or in-person. If you are booking a phone consultation, photos of your hair loss are required prior to the call. This will assist with the evaluation process regarding the appropriate treatment that is right for you.
An in person consultation will be physically assessed and a recommendation will be made that is tailored specifically to your hair loss. An in person consultation is usually scheduled for approximately 30 minutes to one hour.
Aftercare
You will want to treat your scalp like an open wound after your SMP treatment. Avoid getting it wet and keeping it clean. No pools, excessive sweating (working out) for at least the first 3 – 5 days, no scratching, and try to avoid to much sunlight.
First week of getting SMP done:
For the first 5 days following treatment, you should avoid the following:
• Touching with hands – Do not touch your scalp with your hands too much. As you could introduce bacteria and increase the risk of an infection
• Scrubbing and shampooing – Scrubbing the scalp can break the skin and open wounds, and shampooing could introduce harsh chemicals.
• Shaving – Shaving will cause irritation to the area while it’s healing. Shaving is recommended a day before your SMP treatment.
• Exposure to sunlight – Avoid tanning or direct sunlight as UV rays can damage the healing process. Over time, excessive UV exposure will also lead to fading of the pigmentation.
• Sweating – Try not to engage in any intense exercise for at least the first week. Excessive sweating could interrupt the healing process as well
Traditional Tattoo vs SMP:
There are several ways that SMP and a traditional tattoos are different.
Traditional or regular tattoo needles are larger than those of Scalp Micropigmentation. They also tend to penetrate deeper into the skin for a more pronounced finish.
SMP needles on the other hand are very tiny and penetrate less deeper into the scalp. The fact that the treatment process entails mimicking your natural hair follicles, the application will require a less pronounced look as opposed to that of traditional tattoos.
